Anil Parwani

Dr. Anil Parwani is a Professor of Pathology and Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University. He serves as the Donald A. Senhauser Chair of the Department of Pathology and the Chief of Pathology Services for the Health System. Dr. Parwani has expertise in surgical pathology, pathology informatics, whole slide imaging, telepathology, image analysis, artificial intelligence, and lab automation. Dr Parwani has authored over four hundred peer-reviewed articles in major scientific journals and several books and book chapters. Dr. Parwani has served on the board of directors, education committee and abstract committee for USCAP and was the president of digital pathology association. He has also served on several committees including the AI Committee for the CAP. Dr. Parwani is the Editor-in-chief of Diagnostic Pathology and Co-editor of the Journal of Pathology Informatics.

Yi Liu

In early 2023, I initiated collaborations with Drs. E. Aubrey Thompson, Saranya Chumsri, and Jodi Carter, leading to the submission of several abstracts and manuscripts focused on breast cancer’s genomic architecture and immune landscape. Our work is driven by the hypothesis that understanding breast cancer mortality requires examining the interaction between tumor cells and the host immune system. This interaction is best studied through cutting-edge spatial biology techniques, revealing the number, types, activities, and locations of every cell within the tumor. Our research was published in Nature Communications and featured as a spotlight presentation at the 2023 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS), with a manuscript submitted to Science Translational Medicine in June 2024. Dr. Chumsri and I are designing a phase II clinical trial with BriaCell based on our findings, a first for spatial biology. Additionally, I collaborate with clinicians from Mayo Clinic and Emory University on breast cancer proteomics and transcriptomics projects

Giovanni Lujan

Dr Lujan holds dual board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, and he is also certified by The American Board of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine. His clinical expertise is in Gastrointestinal Pathology. He completed a Surgical Pathology fellowship at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions after graduating from the Pathology residency program at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr Lujan has held previous academic appointments at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He was director of a GI fellowship program for several years.

Alae Kawam

Dr. Alae Kawam is currently completing a fellowship in genitourinary pathology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. She has had prior experience signing out general surgical pathology in small community hospital type settings. She completed residency and fellowship at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell Pathology. Dr. Kawam’s professional interests include digital pathology, employee engagement, burnout prevention, leadership, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. She is particularly passionate about understanding how technology can enhance the pathologist experience, improve workflow efficiency, and strengthen modern pathology practice.

Evan Keller

Dr. Keller is the Richard and Susan Rogel Professor of Oncology and serves as Director of the Single Cell Spatial Analysis Program, Director of Research Core Office in the Office of Vice President of Research, and Associate Director of the Rogel Cancer Center Shared Resources. Dr. Keller obtained a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) and Masters of Preventive Veterinary Medicine/Epidemiology (M.P.V.M.) degrees from the University of California, Davis and a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Developmental Biology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is Board Certified in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Oncology). Dr. Keller is a Professor of Urology and Pathology at the University of Michigan. Dr. Keller’s research extends from basic through clinical studies with a focus on crosstalk between tumor and its microenvironment.

Danielle Brown

Danielle Brown is currently Digital Projects Leader for Charles River, serving as the Business Owner for Global Digital Pathology. Prior to this role, Danielle served as the General Manager for the Charles River Reno site for 4 years. Danielle received her BS, DVM, MS, and MBA from North Carolina State University. She is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathology (ACVP) and the American Board of Toxicology (ABT) and is a Fellow of the International Academy of Toxicologic Pathology (IATP). Since the completion of her pathology residency in 2009, Dr. Brown has cultivated a specialty in digital pathology and image analysis. She has been an invited speaker at numerous national and international meetings and has authored several manuscripts, review papers, and book chapters on the subjects.

Aydogan Ozcan

Dr. Aydogan Ozcan is the Chancellor’s Professor and the Volgenau Chair for Engineering Innovation at UCLA and an HHMI Professor with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He is also the Associate Director of the California NanoSystems Institute. Dr. Ozcan is elected Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) and holds >85 issued/granted patents in microscopy, holography, computational imaging, sensing, mobile diagnostics, nonlinear optics and fiber-optics, and is also the author of one book and the co-author of >1200 peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals/conferences. Dr. Ozcan received major awards, including the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE), International Commission for Optics ICO Prize, Dennis Gabor Award (SPIE), Joseph Fraunhofer Award & Robert M. Burley Prize (Optica), SPIE Biophotonics Technology Innovator Award, Rahmi Koc Science Medal, SPIE Early Career Achievement Award, Army Young Investigator Award, NSF CAREER Award, NIH Director’s New Innovator Award, Navy Young Investigator Award, IEEE Photonics Society Young Investigator Award and Distinguished Lecturer Award, National Geographic Emerging Explorer Award, National Academy of Engineering The Grainger Foundation Frontiers of Engineering Award and MIT’s TR35 Award for his seminal contributions to computational imaging, sensing and diagnostics. Dr. Ozcan is elected Fellow of Optica, AAAS, SPIE, IEEE, AIMBE, RSC, APS and the Guggenheim Foundation, and is a Lifetime Fellow Member of Optica, NAI, AAAS, SPIE and APS. Dr. Ozcan is also listed as a Highly Cited Researcher by Web of Science, Clarivate.

Lauren Himmel

Sripad Ram

Sripad Ram heads the digital pathology and image analysis group at Pfizer which supports histopathology image analysis for preclinical and early-stage clinical programs across the Pfizer portfolio. His research interests include digital scoring of IHC biomarkers for clinical specimens and AI/ML algorithm development for whole-slide image analysis. He received his PhD in Bioengineering from UT Southwestern Medical Center and continued his postdoctoral research at the same institution as a National Multiple Sclerosis Society Postdoctoral Fellow where he developed novel microscopy tools to image macromolecule transcytosis across the blood-brain barrier at the single molecule level. He continued is postdoctoral work in the field of cancer therapeutics and antibody engineering where he investigated the trafficking mechanisms of trastuzumab in breast cancer cells. Prior to joining Pfizer, he worked at Carl Zeiss Inc as a microscopy systems specialist.

Alice Wan

Zhuoya Wan, PhD has expertise in muti-omics single cell sequencing and spatial transcriptomics, and uses these cutting-edge omics data to facilitate target discovery and biomarker development across different therapeutic areas (Immunology, Neuroscience, Oncology, and Eye Care). She is a seasoned computational biologist, with hands-on experience and deep understanding of wet lab experiments and technologies. She has broad knowledge in bioinformatics, drug delivery, immunology, and chemistry and is the author or co-author of over 25 peer-reviewed articles or book chapters.

Priyank Patel

Priyank Patel is a Principal Scientist in the Department of Immunology & Respiratory Discovery Research at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc. In this capacity he works in the Spatial Biology lab where he implements computational approaches to perform integrative spatial analysis of data generated by High-Plex/-Omics platforms in order to aide drug discovery and identify novel biomarkers. Priyank holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from State University of New York. Prior to moving to Boehringer Ingelheim, Priyank worked for a biotechnology start-up in Brooklyn, NY developing an immunohistochemistry-based biomarker test for CDK4/6 inhibitors such as Ibrance. He also supported drug discovery efforts for a hormone receptor status agnostic liposomal:peptide based therapeutic for breast cancer treatment.

Orly Ardon

Orly Ardon is the Director of Digital Pathology Operations and an assistant member at the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

She has expertise in microbiology, molecular, and digital pathology. Orly completed the degrees of BSc, MSc, and Ph.D. in Microbiology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and an Executive MBA from the University of Utah. Her postdoctoral training was in cell biology and virology at the University of Utah. Before joining MSKCC, Orly was heading the development of novel computer assisted diagnostic tools and the expansion of digital pathology collaborative initiatives at ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Dr. Ardon career focuses on diagnostic test advancements and laboratory innovation. Her work in digital pathology is centered on operational aspects of the digital technologies and the clinical implementation of laboratory automation. Her interests also include process improvements and healthcare economics.

Syed T. Hoda

I am a subspecialized bone and soft tissue pathologist and director of the Bone & Soft Tissue pathology service here at NYU Langone Health. I have been interested in Digital Pathology since attending a Futurescape conference in 2009/2010 and have since been observing the very slow adoption in the United States of this excellent technology that will change the way Pathology is practiced, in my opinion. I am fortunate to be heading one of the most complete and rapid digital pathology transformations in this country at the moment. I live in Brooklyn and spend my free time collecting vinyl records and strange italian jackets.

Tin Htwe Thin

Tin Htwe Thin is assistant professor of the Department of Pathology at Icahn School of Medicine, Mount Sinai. Her medical science career began as medical student in Institute of Medicien1, Rangoon, Burma. Her PhD (Pathology and Laboratory Medicine) thesis contributed to prostate cancer endocrinology, constructed 3D-ligand-AR-LBD receptor with single point amino acid mutation, tested ligand specificity and androgen sensitivity, and demonstrated the mutation in receptor conformation impacts on ligand sensitivity. As a senior scientist at MSKCC-New York, her research was extensively on analyzing IF-tagged tissue DNA repair proteins and micronucleus after radiotherapy in tumor xenografted gene knockout in-vivo model. At Dean’s Pathology Core Laboratory, Mt Sinai-New York, she single-handedly established IHC core service. She is a lead scientist, innovator of bright-field tissue multiplexed chromogenic IHC and establisher of digital-AI platform for the service task. Thin has authored or co-authored high impact peer-review academic papers, book chapters and review papers.

Zaibo Li

Zaibo Li, MD, Ph.D, MBA is a Professor of Pathology, Director of Cytopathology, Associate Director of Digital and Computational Pathology at The Ohio State University. He holds an Endowed University Pathology Services Professorship. His practice and academic interests are breast/gynecological pathology, cytopathology, and digital pathology. He has published more than 180 scientific articles and many book chapters. He is currently served as section or associate editor/editorial board for several Pathology Journals and served in multiple national society committees. He has presented lectures on many national/international pathology conferences and teaching courses.

Qing Li

Dr. Qing Li is a physician-scientist and anatomic pathologist with over 25 years of experience across clinical practice, academia, and biopharma drug development, with a focus on oncology. She has led translational medicine and pathology initiatives integrating AI-enabled digital pathology and biomarker strategy to support patient selection and clinical trial decision-making.

Dr. Li is a co-inventor of the first mIF technology and a recognized advocate for embedding pathology as a strategic function in oncology clinical trials. Her work emphasizes bridging real-world clinical pathology with clinical development needs and positioning pathology as a critical enabler of development and trial decision-making, ensuring tissue strategy, assay readiness, and digital pathology analytics are clinically grounded, scalable, and regulator-ready.
She is particularly focused on redefining translational medicine through a pathology-led, AI-powered model that improves trial interpretability, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

Carlo Bifulco

Dr. Bifulco is a board-certified Surgical Pathologist with specialized training in Molecular Genetic Pathology and Hematopathology. He is the Chief Medical Officer at Providence Genomics and Medical Director of Cancer Genomics and Precision Oncology at the Providence Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon. Before his current role, Dr. Bifulco was a faculty member at Yale University’s Pathology department and completed fellowships at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Yale. His research bridges computational pathology, spatial biology, and precision medicine.

Swati Satturwar

Dr. Satturwar is an Associate Professor in the Anatomic Pathology Division and a faculty member of the division of Bone and Soft tissue Pathology, Cytopathology and Genitourinary Pathology, at the Ohio State University. She is associate director of digital pathology shared resource at OSU. Her research interests include understanding pathologic basis of carcinogenesis, exploring innovative applications of digital pathology and AI.

Quincy Gu

Dr. Quincy Gu is an Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh and Associate Director of Research and Development at the Computational Pathology & AI Center of Excellence. His research focuses on developing interpretable artificial intelligence frameworks to advance digital and computational pathology, integrating computational analytics with clinical decision-making. Dr. Gu has led the development of AI-driven platforms for whole slide imaging analysis, automated pathology report generation, virtual staining, and multimodal learning systems that combine histopathological and molecular data to improve diagnostic precision. He is actively engaged in national and international professional service, co-chairing the Digital and Computational Pathology Scientific Interest Group of the American Society for Investigative Pathology and serving on AI-focused committees within the College of American Pathologists, the Association for Pathology Informatics, and the Digital Pathology Association. His work has resulted in multiple patents and peer-reviewed publications in explainable AI and precision medicine.

Hongyu Zhao

Dr. Hongyu Zhao is the Ira V. Hiscock Professor of Biostatistics, Professor of Statistics and Data Science, and Professor of Genetics at Yale University. He received his B.S. in Probability and Statistics from Peking University in 1990 and Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of California at Berkeley in 1995. His research interests are the developments and applications of novel statistical and computational methods to address scientific questions in genetics, molecular biology, drug development, and precision medicine. Some of his recent projects include large-scale genome-wide studies to identify genetic variants underlying complex diseases, disease risk prediction, single-cell data analysis, QTL analysis, foundation models, biological network modeling and analysis, disease biomarker identification, and cancer genomics.

Monika Lamba Saini

Dr. Monika Lamba Saini, MBBS, MD, Ph.D., is the ‘Global Translational Pathology leader’ at ADC Therapeutics, where she is responsible for advancing translational research strategies, leveraging digital pathology and AI, and integrating biomarkers to drive novel therapeutics from discovery to clinical development. She also serves as an ‘Education Committee’ member of the Digital Pathology Association. She previously served as the Director of Digital Pathology Innovation at IQVIA laboratories where she provided stewardship of digital pathology from validation to implementation of the digital pathology systems, as well as providing pathology support for AI-based algorithms and digital image analyses. She is a pathologist-scientist with 20+ years of experience and proficiency in pathology. She has been the principal investigator and sub-investigator of clinical trials for companion diagnostics in oncology with Cell Carta Belgium. She has extensive global experience and is the author and reviewer for notable journals, and an invited speaker on international platforms.

Joel Sunshine

Joel Sunshine, is an assistant professor of dermatology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed his M.D. and Ph.D. in biomedical engineering at Johns Hopkins. He then went on to do his clinical training in dermatology and dermatopathology at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine before returning to the Johns Hopkins faculty. Before medical school, he completed bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry and biochemistry at Brandeis University. His research focuses on engineering the tumor microenvironment using biodegradable nanoparticles and leveraging multiplex imaging approaches to improve our understanding of immune responses to skin cancers, with applications including novel therapeutics, spatial proteomics, human biomarker development, and immunotherapy treatment selection. He has received a Dermatology Foundation career development award and a Melanoma Research Alliance Young Investigator award.

Ruben Dries

Dr. Ruben Dries is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University in the sections of Hematology and Oncology (HemOnc) and Computational Biomedicine (CBM). He obtained his PhD in Stem cell biology from K.U. Leuven, Belgium and a joint PhD in Systems biology from Erasmus M.C., The Netherlands. Next, he completed his postdoctoral training in computational biology and cancer research at Harvard University and Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Dries combines computational data analysis with novel experimental approaches and technologies to understand how cells can spatially communicate within their microenvironment, and to build tools to facilitate these types of analyses. He closely collaborates with software engineers, oncologists, and pathologist to bring spatial omics into the clinic.

Jingyi Jessica Li

Jingyi Jessica Li is a statistician and computational biologist whose work bridges data science and biomedical research. She develops reliable and interpretable methods to analyze complex biological data, with a focus on understanding how genes function and are regulated in health and disease. Her research has helped uncover hidden patterns in gene expression and emphasized the importance of statistical rigor, ensuring that scientific discoveries are trustworthy, even when working with noisy or low-quality data. She strongly believes that statistics is not just a supporting tool but a core driver of progress in biology and medicine. Her contributions have been recognized with the NSF CAREER Award, Sloan Research Fellowship, ISCB Overton Prize, COPSS Emerging Leaders Award, Guggenheim Fellowship, and the Mortimer Spiegelman Award.
